A SITE SPECIFIC ART INSTALLATION CELEBRATING THE HISTORIC INNOVATIONS OF AMPEX RECORDING

Dimensions & Materials: 16ft x 12ft x 3ft / Metal, Scientific Glass, Interactive LEDs

Client: Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. - Location: San Carlos, CA

Over a 100 glass vacuum tubes with sound reactive LEDs layered to create a 16ft sound meter. A reference to the development of APEX 200/200A Tape Recorder. Sonic pulses of lights dance to the hit song, “Out of Nowhere”, by the musical performer Bing Crosby to commemorate the first broadcast made possible by the recording on the APEX 200A.

Gentle Monster transforms it’s New York City flagship into an underwater experience

in Collaboration with Justin Muir, City Aquarium NYC

Compromised of 100 recycled, laminated glass windshields that are shattered and layered to give an illusion of ocean swells and waves. Constructed from the use of salvaged windshields and recycled glass collected across NYC, diverting them from off-shore dumping zones. 

Projections of light and sound waves cascade over installation to create an immersive experience.
